Slim Lipo has wavelengths that will simultaneously efficiently melt fat while it also tightens the skin. The device used is a large metal wand which uses a high wavelength which is 1064. However, Slim Lipo use a newer technology which uses a smaller device and two dedicated wavelengths: 924 for targeting fat cells and 975 for tightening skin tissue. In general, Smart Lipo often works less effectively because of its larger size and single wavelength.

The smaller Slim Lipo handpiece offers more freedom of movement to the expert who uses the device – and more precise and refined body sculpting and fat removal – even in small areas of the body. Slim Lipo also offers a variety of interchangeable tips which makes the laser able to access small areas of the body that may be hard to reach. The Smart Lipo fiber optic laser has a less flexible design, and is not able to get to easily access these areas. Additionally, the high temperature created by the increased wavelength in the Smart Lipo poses a risk of burning the tissues around the fat.

While the gentler, but equally effective, dual lasers of the Slim Lipo technology pose no risk of burns or overheating. Recovery periods also differ with each of these treatments. Patients undergoing Smart Lipo generally report experiencing some soreness and discomfort immediately following treatment which can keep them from their normal activities for 3-5 days. However, the recovery period with Slim Lipo is very minimal with most patients returning to work the following day.
