Brachioplasty
There are different approaches to brachioplasty (arm lift) surgery. Each arm lift surgery is tailored to the patient’s specific needs and unique physical attributes. Our skilled and experienced cosmetic surgeons carefully assess each patients situation.
Often an arm lift includes liposuction, to remove excess fat before removing the excess skin. An incision is typically made under the armpit, and the skilled plastic surgeon reduces and sculpts the tissue to achieve definition. Excess skin is removed and the remaining skin is pulled taught and sutured in place.
The degree of surgical correction required depends on the amount of extra fat and skin that needs to be removed – as well as the quality and elasticity of the patient’s skin. Typically arm lifts are an outpatient surgery that only takes two to three hours. Patients may return home the same day, and must generally wear a support garment for a few weeks following surgery.
